    1. Yea it’s an AT&T building that supposedly contains a room that the nsa owns and uses for surveillance

    2. Isn’t this the building where the NSA has an unlisted room that snoops on ALL communications that come through this telecom building?

    3. I recognized it from the documentary about how they rebuilt service after a fire there in the 70’s.

    4. Federal Bureau of Control paranatural location, The Oldest House.

      It’s way weirder inside.

    5. I doubt theres telephony exchanges still there, thats old news. Im sure its a datacenter for Service Providers like ATT, thats the only logical reason

    6. its the Vampire tower ….. one of the amenity’s is that no sunlight ever enters the spaces inside ….. get your space today

    7. >AT&T’s windowless buildings were primarily designed for security and climate control to protect the sensitive telecommunications equipment inside. During the Cold War, many were built as fortresses to withstand potential nuclear attacks, with features like thick concrete walls and enough supplies to operate for an extended period without outside support. The absence of windows also keeps the interior cool, preventing solar heat from adding to the significant heat generated by the machinery, which requires a stable, controlled environment.

Every major city has at least one.

    8. there are also fake buildings all over new york city for ventilation, emergency exits, subway maintenance etc.

Power substation. ie takes in very high voltage and moves to lower, safer voltage for use within the city. Most major cities have them. There are likely many throughout NYC

    10. This is how most telephone company switching offices used to look. My mom worked for GTE in So Cal for 35 years and I’ve been in a few of these, not his tall, but several 3-4 Floor buildings with no windows.
